Selected for the rich magenta of the
flowers up to 7cm (3 in) from December to March. Prefers well drained
soil in shade.
Similar leaves to C. coum. Sometimes the flowers are fragrant. They are
one of the hardiest and easiest species, seeding themselves around freely
in the garden once established. Naturally distributed along an arc from
Bulgaria to Israel, including the Caucasus..
